Hello, younger members of this
! I would specifically like to start a discussion with those in the
under the age of 30.
I see a lot of posts on this page discussing equalizers and the best use of them. As someone with significantly younger ears than the average member, I find absolutely no need for an equalizer. I have a personal opinion that an equalizer is best used in an environment where the individual is unable to experience the music as intended, for one reason or another - age, poor acoustics, poor equipment, a combination etc.
What do the younger members think? Am I alone in this hypothesis? Do you use an equalizer or the loudness button?
(Apologies to any other members who find themselves offended by this post. That’s not my intention. I’m just curious if other 20 something or younger listeners have the same habits as others in this
)

Greg Pappas An EQ, used correctly, does not fix the music, it fixes the room. Rooms can be boomy or have resonances on any frequency wavelength. an EQ compensates for them. So as someone with a degree in music I can safely say "yeah, you're wrong."

have hearing loss approaching and exceeding 9k hz for a variety of reasons

Peter S. McCullough also not under 30...your description implies all discs are made will sililiar acoustic results. not true. some have too much bass, others too much treble et cetera. the eq releases you from the bounds of poor recording decisions.
