Hi, my name is Steve Guttenberg, I am a full time professional audio reviewer. I've been writing the Audiophiliac blog on CNET.com for over 11 years, and reviews for CNET for 18 years. I write for Sound & Vision and Stereophile magazines as a freelancer, and I have also contributed to The Absolute Sound, Audio, Listener, Rob Report, and Home Theater magazines.
I also worked as a high-end audio salesman in NYC from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s. I trained as a piano tuner for about a year in the mid 1980s, but I was never very good at it. I also worked on dozens of Chesky Records sessions, where we made minimally miked, live to two-track, free of dynamic range compression, EQ-free audiophile recordings.
My Audiophiliac Daily Show on YouTube is my latest endeavor, and it's a lot of fun. I do audio reviews ranging from affordable to insanely expensive gear, music reviews, interviews, show reports, and thought pieces. The videos are short, 5 to 12 minutes, so they're easy to digest as they cover just one subject. In order to keep the Audiophiliac Daily Show growing I need your support, so even a $2 a month pledge would be a big help. Thanks for (at least thinking about) subscribing to the Audiophiliac Daily Show.
